About the indicators
Tuvalu reports its education figures against the global goal for education (SDG 4) and its own national strategy (Te Kete). The Ministry's sector plan, TESP IV, is how both are delivered, and TEMIS measures most of it from school records.
The global goal for education
Sustainable Development Goal 4 is one of the United Nations' 17 global goals: inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all by 2030. Every country reports against the same indicators, so Tuvalu's figures can be read alongside the region's and the world's.
TESP IV links to 8 SDG 4 indicators; TEMIS has figures for 5
Tuvalu's national strategy
Te Kete, the National Strategy for Sustainable Development 2021–2030, sets Tuvalu's own national targets. Its education outcome (3.11) covers learning, teachers, the curriculum and schools.
TESP IV links to 9 Te Kete measures; TEMIS has figures for 5
Equity, Quality and Systems/Governance
The Tuvalu Education Sector Plan IV: 3 outcome areas and 19 objectives, with 47 indicators to track them.
TEMIS covers 26 of the 47, now or soon
How TESP IV works
The Tuvalu Education Sector Plan IV (TESP IV) is the Ministry's plan for delivering both. It sets out three outcome areas, each with objectives and indicators to track them. TEMIS measures most of them directly from school records; the rest come from other Ministry and partner reports.

About the data
TEMIS works out every figure on this page from school records, by one method for all three frameworks, and recalculates it within minutes of new data being entered. Last worked out 17 October 2026. Where a year has no figure yet, the latest earlier one is shown with its year.
Enrolment rates divide students by the number of children of the right age in the population estimates for that year. Where an estimate is low a rate can pass 100%; those figures are marked and the population estimates are under review with the Central Statistics Division.
